interior inspirations: stick pose

January 27, 2015 by Taryn Antoniou in art, decor, diy, handmade, healthy living, home, home decor, inspiration, interior design, interior inspirations, wall art, weaving, yoga

Today we had a snow day in New York so I got to wake up and start my day with the lovely Adriene.  I really do love waking up early and doing my yoga before going to work, but lately I can't seem to get in bed early enough to not wake up late and be in a complete rush in the morning! Today was definitely a healthy balance of work and yoga.   Everyday should be like that.

Day 12 and lucky day 13 were all about realigning the spine and building endurance.  We sat in stick pose for a second so of course my brain went right to my new stick decor!  Sounds weird.. but it looks great!  I've got branches on the brain!  I love when my yoga practice can relate back to my art and design work.  Keeps me inspired.

day 5 + 6 + i found my crow

January 20, 2015 by Taryn Antoniou in art, artist, decor, diy, handmade, home, home decor, inspiration, interior design, interior inspirations, Local, nyc, wall art, watercolor, weaving, yoga

And by crow I mean my crow pose in yoga and not my original raven painting.  Trying to be a little witty here combining my yoga practice with my painting practice. And yes that's my Treasure Troll top knot and belly button.  Anyways, I am SO excited because, like I said, I found my crow again and I held it for a whole 10 seconds!  It's the small victories on this feel good inside and out new years resolution challenge.  Tonight I completed days 5 and 6 of the 30 days of yoga and I feel great!  I will of course leave the videos for you to follow along as well.  But first!  I want to share my very special surprise from today... it felt a little like Christmas..

photo 2 (12).jpg

My dear friend Kat finished my wall tapestry!  This is her first woven tapestry and I absolutely love it.  I have big plans for this guy.  One of which is that he will hang from a branch from my home town on the wall next to my bed.  When he is finally complete I will of course show him off! For now he's just hanging out on some antlers.  So excited!!

I hope you are getting inspired either through these little yoga videos or through learning about new and beautiful ways to make your home feel cozy!  Part of feeling good in the mind and body is feeling good in your space!  Maybe that will be my mantra.  Keep my mind, body and space clean and feeling good.

With that being said, I'm going to light some sage and cook a little dinner!

Namaste. (prayer hands emoji)

the crafternoon

January 18, 2015 by Taryn Antoniou in art, decor, diy, flower crowns, Food, handmade, healthy living, home, inspiration, interior inspirations, sundays, weaving, party planning

I must say, the crafternoon was a success! We had such a great time, everyone made a little something, and no one burned the place down (though we had a few close calls).  And I got to keep a few creations like my new ombre phases of the moon friendship bracelet by Liz Wong, and a woven snuggly tapestry (still in the works) by Miss Kat Dawe.  My painter's pallet cheese plate was definitely the star of the show.  I must point out that I did arrange the cheese and treats by color.  So please take note!

Everyone did such a great job.  The projects were as follows:

  • Kat: woven tapestry
  • Miranda: experimented with watercolors
  • Lauren: friendship bracelets
  • Liz: friendship bracelets and a manicure
  • Emily: pom pom banner
  • Me: handmade valentine's day cards and had a little too much champagne

This was the first formal crafternoon and it certainly won't be the last!

Also: It's day 3 in 30 days of yoga!  I'll post the video in a separate post.

January 17, 2015 by Taryn Antoniou in art, decor, diy, healthy living, home decor, weaving, yoga, handmade

Today I will be hosting my first gathering in my new home.  It's a girls only crafternoon and cocktails.

The tables have been set and there will be lots of photos to come! Above is just a little peek into the colorful and creative day.  So excited! There will be lots of champagne. Lots!

Also!  Tonight was day 2 of my 30 Day Yoga with Adriene and I'm loving it.

pet portraits: for the plant owners

December 22, 2014 by Taryn Antoniou in brooklyn, diy, handmade, illustrations, pet portraits, plants, wall art, watercolor, christmas

There's a gift, an illustration, and a pet for everyone!  Every Christmas for the past 2 years my assistant and I have exchanged some epic gifts (his gifts were more epic than mine).  This Christmas I decided to make it super personal.  Plants, art, and tattoos are a few of his favorite things, so I decided to hand paint his most recent tattoos on a wall hanging pot for a new cactus pet!  A friend then gave me the witty idea to paint a "pet portrait" of the little guy.

A big thank you to Baked in Brooklyn for making my personalized gifting dreams come true!

Mallory Sophronia

June 05, 2014 by Taryn Antoniou in art, diy, flower crowns, jewelry, interior design, wall art, store design, apparel, artist

Mallory Sophronia opened their first ever brick and mortar this past weekend! The apparel and accessories line has a new home in a cottage in Kennebunk, Maine within the Morning Walk Galleries.

Kennebunk could quite possibly be one of my favorite places to visit. It has beautiful views, just a real sense of calm and more importantly, the best seafood. Ever.

Mallory Sophronia caters to the bohemian beach babe. The girl behind the brand pays homage to her ancestors and their namesake through her handmade goods. What differentiates Mallory from other designers is that she makes clothing that fits all body types, there is no right or wrong way to wear her pieces and each piece is a true one of a kind. Her designs range from flowy and oversized to short and sexy.

My favorite piece I own at the moment is a printed purple kimono. It doubles as a skimpy robe around the apartment and a top that hints at a little too much, paired back to my black leather shorts. And of course... I own one of the orchid flower crowns. L O V E .

Mallory and I installed the interior space in about 3 days. Her family contributed a lot as well. The whole experience was so fun and freeing. We just did whatever the hell we wanted with no restraints. It was pretty cool.

To shop Mallory Sophronia from the comfort of your home go to mallorysophronia.com

If you're lucky enough to be in the area of the shop they are located at 2 Morning Walk Lane in Kennebunk, Maine at The Galleries at Morning Walk. The shop is open Mon, Wed, Fri-Sun from 10:00am - 5:00pm.

flower crown wall art

June 01, 2014 by Taryn Antoniou in diy, art, interior design, plants, sundays, wall art, flower crowns

It's officially summer!!  Which means it is officially appropriate to wear fresh flowers in your hair at all times. Fresh flower crowns are one of my favorite things about summer.  The perfect accessory for any boho babe.  The downfall of it all is that they only last 1 - 2 days, which makes this chick real sad.  So to turn my flower frown upside down I dry them out and incorporate them in my room as wall art!  It's pretty simple and it allows me to showcase all of the special occasions where I have worn these beautiful pieces.

After the crown starts to wilt place it on a tapered round lampshade to dry out (remove the shade or use only when the shade is cool) then hang!   You can also have them framed in a shadow box but if you're on a budget like me, hanging them is just fine.

Let the crowns live on!

sprinkling some spring

March 02, 2014 by Taryn Antoniou in interior design, home decor, diy, sundays

My room needed a little bit of a facelift.  It was reading a little too tired and not enough floral gypsy princess.  So you know.. I made it happen.

Here are some before.. during.. and after shots.

homemade sea salt spray

January 26, 2014 by Taryn Antoniou in diy, sundays

As soon as I turned 28 shit went down.  All of a sudden my skin looks like a preteen's (I had better skin between the ages 12-17 than I do now) and I have eczema patches.. it's the worst.

I don't want to use any harsh treatments on my skin so I searched for a homeopathic solution.  I came across the Wellness Mama blog and grabbed this great recipe for homemade sea salt spray.  I noticed that when I was vacationing in Hawaii my skin issues vanished and my complexion was clear.  It could have been a number of factors like the elimination of stress, the humidity in the air, diet.. however there are studies that show how salt and salt water have some pretty decent benefits for the skin.  It can reduce wrinkles, helps tighten the skin and clears up acne.  It can also be used for therapeutic purposes which is known as Thalassotherapy.

On this snowy and lazy Sunday I made some sea salt spray of my own.  Below is the recipe..  The pink Himalayan salt is so pretty.  For the essential oils I'm trying Tea Tree oil since I like the smell, it has a lot of healing qualities and is great for the skin.  You just have to be careful because it could dry you out.  I added pieces of Lavender to make it pretty.. because that's what's important here.  I'm going to use it for the next couple of weeks and see how it goes!

I think what the real issue is, is New York City.

Thank God I'll be in LA next week!
